Book private and group workshops and sessions with Kenna Burima

There is a song in all of us.

In fact, a thousand songs reside in each of us and with a little time, encouragement, and assistance anyone can bring a song into being.

Kenna believes that no matter who you are; a seasoned veteran stuck on the bridge, a keen beginner needing help with chord choices, or someone who has never touched an instrument, you can express that which is inside of you through song.

Kenna’s 20+ years of writing, performing, and teaching songs of all kinds and genres has honed a gentle approach that will have you leaving each session with a song. But be forewarned, once the door is opened, you may not be able to shut it.

For many of us, an endless supply of songs is banging at the door of our being, just waiting to be set free into the world. Once the lock is broken on fearing the quality of a song; good/bad, hit/flop and rather focusing on the internal connection and external expression, the most important question is answered; does this song feel true?

Collaborate with Kenna in one-on-one private sessions or in a group workshop setting.

One-on-one sessions

Private session rates are $85/hour with 3 sessions for $250 and 5 sessions for $400.

Private sessions with Kenna focus on creativity, personal expression and confidence building. Her whole teaching method is centred around being able to play and create at the piano immediately and was developed based on her pedagogical approach that utilizes songwriting as a core launchpad for musical understanding and facility.

Each session is built unique to each student and based on what Kenna’s considers to be the four elements of the Song; melody, harmony, rhythm and form.

Under each of these elements, Kenna introduces ten fundamentals of music that covers all the traditional material of theory, technique and history, but allows for a holistic and expansive understanding that focuses on creativity through the art of songwriting, musical and emotional expression and confidence. The ten fundamentals include the four musical elements but are expanded to include pitch, meter, tempo, dynamics, articulation, and timbre.
